We are
Friends Like These

Formed in 2018 but with an 80s soul, UK Pop band Friends Like These make modern feel-good music with a throwback twist. Ambitious, driven, and with a wealth of upcoming music the five-piece are pushing forward against the tides of 2020, and are growing a worldwide fanbase from the comfort of their homes.

The band started 2020 like most artists; scheduling the release of new material, as well as planning and rehearsing for live shows. But when the pandemic hit and their plans went astray, the band got creative. Every few weeks, the group has been recording and filming a new cover song for their growing YouTube channel in what has become their acclaimed ‘Lockdown Sessions’. The aim of the sessions was to virtually bring people together while socially distant, and has engaged with fans all around the world. The guys also had a surprise YouTube hit during this time; recorded and filmed just before life changed, their mashup of The Weeknd’s ‘Blinding Lights’ and a-ha’s ‘Take On Me’ has exceeded over 1.5 million views.

Inspired by new and classic artists such as Michael Jackson, The Weeknd, Charlie Puth, Bruno Mars, and The 1975, Friends Like These’ music sits at crossroad between Contemporary Pop and 80s Synth Pop-Rock. Their sound runs the gamut of these eras from the Disco Pop sheen of ‘The Queen', to the modern Chic-esque strut in ‘Danger Us’, to the all out Pop-Rock bombast of lead single ‘Good Time’. On 3rd July their next single ‘Break Up Weather’ arrives, with luscious synth pads, emotive lyrics, and powerhouse vocals.

There is an undeniable chemistry between the five friends, one which has been cultivated since they first started performing together in 2015, albeit under a different name. During this period the quintet honed their musicianship, and took their refined and precise live performances around the country, performing on the same bills with artists from a variety of different genres, including Jools Holland and His Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, We Are Scientists, Alison Moyet, and Buzzcocks. In 2016 the band were chosen to open for British Pop/Soul legends and ‘Stars’ hitmakers Simply Red on their Big Love Stadium Tour at the Emirates International Stadium.
